Feb/March 2026 Rescues
Queso - a handsome bully mix, about 9 years old. Animal Control received a call about a dog in distress lying in a ditch. When they arrived, it was Queso taking a nap :) He had a collar on and it seemed that he had broken a chain.
Queso had stiffness in one hip. During his exam, we had x-rays taken and discovered an old injury that had healed, but was causing him arthritis.
Queso is a total sweetheart with the kindest eyes. He let us know that he loved riding up front much more than riding in a crate !!
Artie - a stray beagle mix, with a docked tail, about a year old. He had cherry eye and he got a much needed surgery!
Artie was very shy at first. We let him play with Sheila at Animal Control and she helped him come around quickly.
Sheila - one of the sweetest strays you will ever find, about 6 years old.
Sheila is an absolute lap dog. Look ate her huge smile!
Brie - a stray bluetick hound about 3 years old. She was very clean, walked well on a leash, and seemed to be housebroken.
Brie was a clown with all her silly expressions.
Clayton - a very jolly stray beagle, about 6 years old. Like many beagles, he loves meal time and he loves affection.
Clayton unfortunately tested positive for heartworms. Even with our discount, heartworm is expensive to treat and takes approximately 4 1/2 months to treat. So Clayton will be at Hopeful Hounds while he heals!
Clayton - a good photo showing his jolly nature!
Vinny - a stray shepherd mix no more than a year old. He has lots of puppy energy and loves to play ball.
Vinny looking very friendly and handsome!
Ellie - a very sweet stray beagle with pretty, long ears.
Kora - a 4 year old Great Pyrenees, who was surrendered with her sister Oksana. They were farm guard dogs that were no longer needed.
Oksana - surrendered with her sister Kora. Both are very sweet girls!
Wren - a tiny Beagle, only weighing 15 pounds! She was picked up as a stray running with Reef at a local farm brewery.
Wren had an infected wound on her back. We had that tended to and cleaned up, when she got her exam and vaccines.
Reef - a handsome stray about 3 years old. Weighing 55 pounds, he was an unlikely sidekick to 15 pound Wren, but they loved each other!
Reef, strangely, had an infected wound on his neck. A cyst had formed around it. He was put on antibiotics, and the cyst will be removed when he is neutered.
Sunday - about one year old, and very affectionate. She was named Sunday, since Emily Bell found her on a Sunday, wandering around a convenience store parking lot. She was very pregnant. The cashier said she appeared overnight. Apparently someone had dumped her. Fonda Bell brought Emily a carrier to rescue her!
Sunday went to Lovingston Vet on Monday to be checked out and dewormed. She stayed there until we could find her a foster home. A week later she gave birth to 8 beautiful kittens, shown in this photo!
