June 2026 Rescue — Hopeful Hounds

Nellie - a sweet little foxhound girl about 6 years old that was brought in as a stray.

Nellie desperately needed a dental, which Hopeful Hounds paid for when she was spayed. She had 17 teeth pulled. Now she has a healthy mouth and a beautiful "smile".

Axel, Cattoo, Deacon, and Evan - 4 little stray boy kittens brought to us by a good samaritan. They were super sweet and affectionate from day one. This is Axel, the cutest little runt.

Cattoo is an orange tabby with 3 white legs and one orange leg that looked like a "sleeve tattoo".

Deacon is adorable with his dark orange swirls.

Evan - the mischievous one!

Rosie - a tiny 5 week old puppy found in a field during the recent heat wave. In this photo, you can see how tiny she was.

Rosie was at Animal Control for several weeks. Here you can see how much she grew!

Liza - a sweet, little stray beagle about 6 years old.

Liza loves every person and every dog. So, while she was at Animal Control, we used her to test other dogs. They all loved her too! ♥️

Now, an update on 6 dogs that Animal Control seized in March 2025: Their owner was charged with cruelty and neglect. Even though he was found guilty at his original hearing, he appealed several times and eventually requested a trial by jury. The jury also found him guilty of all charges. Because the owner refused to release custody, the dogs were housed at animal control for 15 months. They will be forever grateful to Miranda, the kennel manager at Animal Control, for keeping them social and sane all those months! Many thanks to Miranda!!! Goose wasn't gaining weight and had diarrhea. He spent several weeks at the vet. He had a UTI, prostatitis, and colitis. He would not have survived much longer, if he hadn't been rescued!

Since Animal Control can be stressful with the barking and new dogs coming and going, Fonda took him home and fostered him since last August. Maggie, her grand-daughter, enjoyed loving on him!

Zara - a sweet little 15 pound female.

Zara was feisty and on guard when she came into Animal Control, but turned into a little sweetheart during her stay there.

Dr. Ligon discovered that Zara had hypothyroidism, so she was started on medication. Look at her happy face!

Zelda - female. Her coat was in terrible condition. All tests came back negative. It seems that poor nutrition and being locked in a filthy room with inches deep feces was the cause.
